Summary

This study aims to investigate the development of the student self-government system in Azerbaijani general education institutions, in particular the implementation of the “School Parliament” model. In line with the trends towards democratization and strengthening student participation in the education system, the School Parliament has become an important mechanism that allows students to actively participate in decision-making processes. The study concludes that the School Parliament model increases students' self-confidence, strengthens social interaction and communication skills, increases their sense of belonging to school life, and significantly contributes to the assimilation of democratic values. In addition, it is concluded that this model creates a suitable foundation for the application of student-centered approaches in the Azerbaijani education system and is a pedagogical tool.
