Summary
The article deals with the nature of the variability of the accent structure of English polysyllabic words in the flow of speech, identifying the specifics of modifications of word stress in the situation of spontaneous utterances. The purpose of the article is to establish the degree and boundaries of modifications of word stress, describe the specifics of variability in the accent structure of a polysyllabic word in spontaneous speech, as well as identify the patterns of this variation.
