BGU regularly holds meetings with the families of martyrs and veterans

On May 5, 2024, a visit was organized with the family of martyr Zaur Madatov. During the meeting, Raziye Madatova, the martyr's mother, spoke to the students about her son's life and military service. She expressed her gratitude to the management and students of BGU for their visit.

     Zaur Madatov, a soldier in the Azerbaijan Army, fought in the battles for the freedom of Jabrayil and Fuzuli during  II Karabakh War, which began on September 27, 2020. The war was initiated by the Azerbaijani Armed Forces to liberate territories occupied by Armenia and restore Azerbaijan's territorial integrity. Zaur Madatov was martyred on October 8 during the liberation of Fuzuli and was buried in the Alley of Martyrs in Sumgait city.

   In recognition of his honorable service, Zaur Madatov was     posthumously awarded the "For the Motherland" medal by the Decree of the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev on December 15, 2020. He was also posthumously awarded the "For the Liberation of Jabrayil" medal for his bravery and heroism during the liberation of Jabrayil, as per the Presidential Decree dated December 24, 2020.

   May God have mercy on all our martyrs!
