On the analysis of inter-variety borrowings (based on the British,
American, Canadian and Australian English)
Summary
The article considers the notion of inter-variety borrowing with reference to loanwords in British,
American, Canadian and Australian Englishes. It demonstrates the specific character of the process of
borrowing from one national variety into another. The author reveals the system connections of the
term ―inter-variety borrowings‖ under consideration with correlative terms. English is supposed to be
an international way of communication. As it is widely spoken in such countries as U.S., Canada,
Australia etc, it is acceptable that all the people living in these countries can have some affects on the
usage of that very language. In the article the author gives some examples for the purpose of revealing
the facts describing the differences between the British, American, Canadian and Australian variants
of the English language. All the differences cover phonetic, lexical, grammatical and other spheres of
the language as well
