Key words: suicide, behaviorism, reinforcement, classical conditioning, operant conditioning, observational learning
Summary
Behavioural theories offer a reliable basis framework for understanding and addressing suicide by focusing on environmental influences, learned behaviours and reinforcement patterns. To understand the behavioristic perspective on suicide, the article provides information on classical and operant conditioning, including observational learning, and discusses the role of their principles in the formation of suicidal behaviour. By integrating these principles with modern therapeutic approaches, behavioural scientists can develop effective interventions to reduce suicide risk and increase resilience.
