Summary
The study establishes that the historical knowledge of primary school students constitutes one of the key factors in optimizing the process of forming the foundations of patriotic culture and performs the following functions: educational – involving the acquisition of knowledge about the history, culture, and religion of the country, as well as the development of value-oriented attitudes and experience in patriotically oriented activities; communicative – providing for the inclusion of students in a communicative environment in order to facilitate the assimilation of historical models and to support their understanding of personal goals within the context of future-oriented perspectives; activity-based – consisting in the integration of historical knowledge into the structure of students’ active patriotic engagement (the development of attachment to the Motherland based on historical knowledge and traditions, pride in its past, the cultivation of civic consciousness, and the preservation and enhancement of the nation’s glory).
