Summary
The article analyzes the popularization of teaching geographic information systems (GIS) as a subject in secondary schools, which is one of the priority topics of recent times, and the basics of its integrative teaching. Digitization is increasing its importance in the process of teaching geography, as in all fields. Mapping the territory and adapting it to mathematical parameters are the basis of geographical research. Compilation of information about a geographical region with modern innovative tools requires the interaction of mathematics, computer science and geography. GIS has brought a new approach to the modern education system and its development continues with a positive trend.
