Summary

A person with narcissistic symptoms does not tolerate minimal criticism, perceives remarks as a personal insult. Sigmund Freud, who first began the scientific study of this phenomenon, noted that people have primary signs of narcissism, which, under the influence of unfavorable circumstances, develop into more complex forms of neurosis and other pathological states of the psyche. According to Kernberg's theory, which proceeds with Freud's dynamics, narcissism is a defense mechanism formed in childhood to overcome the anxiety of individuals that their parents will abandon them or lose them in their lives by the age of three. During adolescence, both physical and mental development begins to take place both rapidly and in all areas. Most adolescents demonstrate narcissistic traits as a natural and healthy component of their development and personal progress. People with narcissistic personality disorder often seek psychotherapy, engage in meditation, yoga, and extreme sports. Such people seek to find their "self" through feeling, experiencing various spiritual experiences through meditation.
