Summary: The article examines the role of synonymic paradigms in the structural-semantic organization of texts based on examples of modern Azerbaijani prose. The primary objective of the research is to reveal how synonymic series, arranged according to the principle of gradation on the syntagmatic axis, determine the climax of emotional tension within a text. Real examples selected from the works of Anar, Elchin, and Kamal Abdulla are subjected to linguistic analysis. It is proven that in literary texts, synonyms function not merely as a means of lexical variability but also as psychological regulators that progressively intensify connotative nuances. The relationship between paradigmatic choice and syntagmatic alignment is evaluated as a self-regulation mechanism of the language. The findings of the study are of significant importance for text linguistics, stylistics, and the linguistic analysis of literary texts.
